This recipe was originally tested using metric measurements and has since been converted to cups.

  • large handful of ice
  • 3½ oz vodka
  • 2 cups tomato juice
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
    plus 2 lemon slices to serve
  • few shakes of Worcestershire sauce
  • few shakes of Tabasco
    (chipotle Tabasco is nice)
  • pinch of celery salt
  • pinch of black pepper
  • 2 celery sticks
    to serve

Method

  • step 1

    Put the ice in a large jug. Measure the vodka, tomato juice and lemon juice, and pour them straight over the ice.

  • step 2

    Add 3 shakes of Worcestershire sauce and Tabasco (or more if you like it very spicy), and the celery salt and pepper. Stir until the outside of the jug feels cold, then strain the cocktail into two tall glasses.

  • step 3

    Top up with fresh ice, add a celery stick and lemon slice to both glasses, and enjoy.
