The Zwilling Enfinigy Electric Spice Grinder is ready to go straight from the box following a quick charge. It is a super-elegant design in striking black and has a small wraparound window to see the level of spice inside, which is handy.
Adjusting the grind size is tricky to see in the base, mainly because of the black colour. It is, however, easy to adjust and has an excellent, clear click with each movement as it turns. The housing for the spices is where we had the biggest problem: it is hard to get off and, at first, almost impossible. There is a knack to it and once we got used to this, it became easier. What we particularly liked about this mill was how light it is despite being so powerful and well made.
We tested peppercorns, coriander and cumin seeds from smooth to coarse grind. We loved the adjustment screw as it feels precise, and it was easy to see the changes in the ground peppers as we worked through the dial. With the peppercorns, the fine grind was even but not powdery, more like specks of pepper that tasted great. The cumin was powdery but had lots of tiny chunks, which again had quite a punch when tasted. With the coriander, it was a mix of both powder and chunks of spice; we found it hard to get it any finer, even on the lowest setting. We rather liked the grind on all three despite their different characteristics.
The Zwilling Enfinigy grinder is not the cheapest on the test. Still, the quality of the build, the smoothness of the grind, the power of the motor and the tasty results make this a desirable and easy-to-use mill – once you get used to uncoupling the spice housing.
